"You are responsible for the energy you bring into the room" says Oprah Winfrey. In the fast paced life that many of us live it is essential to be intentional with how we use our time and our energy.
Personal Energy Management is an important skill to have both at work and at home. It is essential to look after ourselves; body, mind & spirit.
Your energy can be used to build a dynamic, effective life but if you're not looking after yourself you may find that your low energy levels drain you of all motivation.
It is your responsibility to manage your wellbeing and the energy that you carry. You need to make decisions every day that will impact your personal energy.
Two strategic questions you could ask yourself each morning are:
What should I NOT do today?
What should I do today?
Answering these questions will help ensure that your energy is spent where it needs to be invested; to achieve what is needed and still have enough strength to invest in your loved ones at the end of the day!
This helps you to avoid becoming task focussed when you get home at the end of the day. I try to spend the first 10 minutes when I get home on greetings, loving, hugging & interacting with my family. This sets the tone for the rest of the evening.
I've recorded a short video to further inspire you to manage your personal energy levels - I hope you find it valuable!
