Six Reasons to be Grateful

Consider what you have and practise being grateful - it will change your year for the better! Here are six reasons to be grateful:

1.You'll end up having more!

Oprah Winfrey said: "Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough."

You'll have more friends, more fun, more challenges and be more positive when you practice being grateful.

2. You won't miss the BIG things!

"Enjoy the little things; for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things." Robert Brault

Learn to appreciate the details that make the big picture beautiful. This way you'll also get better at delivering projects, dinners and parties that will be appreciated. Being consistent in appreciating and taking care of the little things will impact your world for the better.

3. It's a never-ending currency

"Gratitude is a currency that we can mint for ourselves, and spend without fear of bankruptcy." Fred De Witt Van Amburgh

I love this - there is no way you can run out of positive gratitude! The more you give the more people will appreciate you and stick with you. Be proactive - create a list in the morning about things, people and their traits that you are grateful for. Remember to verbalise it to others.

4. It will develop the people around you

"The way to develop the best that is in a person is by appreciation and encouragement." Charles Schwab

Appreciation and encouragement has a guaranteed return on investment. Be persistent in your efforts to be an encourager, even if it doesn't come naturally for you. Not only will it develop your team, your friends and your family - YOU will grow when you see the impact on people around you!

5. Expressing it creates value

"Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it." William Arthur Ward

Being grateful is an action. Don't keep your insights about what you're grateful for to yourself. Your gratitude will only create value when it is shared with others.

6. It's the completion of thankfulness

"Thankfulness is the beginning of gratitude. Gratitude is the completion of thankfulness. Thankfulness may consist merely of words. Gratitude is shown in acts." Henri Frederic Amiel

What actions can you PLAN today to show your gratitude. Get started right away!

Have a great day!
